Dancing with the Stars 6: Week 9 Loser

Marissa Jaret Winokur, Tony Dovolani

On last night’s episode of Dancing with the Stars: Season 6, the four semifinalists had the opportunity to showcase their improvement.  Their dances - chosen at random - were all repeats of styles they had done before.

By night’s end:

  • Jason Taylor got a 28 for his Foxtrot (formerly 22) and a 27 for his Paso Doble (26).  Total = 55.
  • Cristián de la Fuente was coincidentally assigned the same two performances he attempted the night of his injury.  Despite horrible flashbacks, he earned a 27 for his Viennese Waltz (25) and a 29 for his Samba (21).  His total of 56 topped the Miami Dolphin.
  • Underdog Marissa Jaret Winokur scored a 26 for her Quickstep (21) and a 26 for the Rumba (25).  Total - 52.
  • Kristi Yamaguchi racked up a 28 for her Jive (down from her perfect 30) and a 29 for her Tango (27).  Her total of 57 was the best of the evening.

Monday Ratings: Weak Premiere for American Gladiators

Why NBC chose to bring back American Gladiators at this time is beyond me.  Had the show debuted after the latest round of finales, it might have fared better than fourth place.  Meanwhile, ABC was another winner with the viewers while FOX was tops in the demos.

Dancing with the Stars 6: Week 9

Dancing with the Stars logo

Last Monday on Dancing with the Stars: Season 6, the top two contenders (Jason and Kristi) both made large steps backwards. Meanwhile, Cristián proved a silly little injury wasn’t going to hold him back.

In this week’s semi-finals, the remaining four celebrities performed two familiar styles (one Latin, one Ballroom) that were chosen at random. They were also banned from doing more lifts.  Who demonstrated improvement…and who repeated their mistakes? Read on!

Will Shannon Elizabeth and Derek Hough Get Their Own Show?

Dancing with the Stars, Shannon Elizabeth and Derek HoughAlthough their romance was only confirmed less than a month ago, there’s already talk about a future reality project for Dancing with the Stars’ Shannon Elizabeth and Derek Hough.  Apparently someone thinks their relationship actually has a future!

According to Extra, another former DWTS competitor is interested in following the two lovebirds as they pursue their other interests.  The production company belonging to and her husband may soon have cameras focused on Shannon as she tries to land acting gigs and on Derek as he works on his music career.  (He and Mark Ballas have their own band called Almost Amy.)  The show would, of course, also feature the couple’s blossoming romance.

Seriously.  Shouldn’t the Spice Girl wait to see where this whole thing goes before she makes any business decisions like that?  Quite honestly, I though Sabrina Bryan and Ballas had a better chance of staying together…and they just broke up

Tuesday Ratings: Viewers Reunite with Dancing with the Stars

Although FOX easily handled another Tuesday night, a special two-hour Dancing with the Stars block made a nice dent in the competition.

Dancing with the Stars 6: Week 8 Loser

Dancing with the Stars, Mario, Karina Smirnoff

Yesterday’s edition of Dancing with the Stars: Season 6 turned out to be another jaw-dropping event:

  • Kristi’s Samba earned the skater another 26.  (Her first was last week.)  That’s her lowest score to date.
  • Jason Taylor racked up a 23 for his interpretation of the Samba.  He hasn’t seen that number since Week 3.
  • Cristián accumulated three 10’s and finished with his best total ever.  More importantly, the injured actor somehow managed to beat both Jason and Kristi!

Monday Ratings: ABC, CBS and FOX Divide the Night

Thanks a dip in House‘s numbers, CBS was able to match FOX in the demos.  Meanwhile, ABC was again the most-viewed network on Monday night.

Dancing with the Stars 6: Week 8

Dancing with the Stars logo

Last week on Dancing with the Stars: Season 6, Jason Taylor ended Kristi’s six-episode winning streak and Cristián nearly ended his run with a painful injury.

In tonight’s quarterfinals, the final five stars had another two dances to perform (one Latin, one ballroom).  They also had the opportunity to finally perform lifts.  Who rose to the challenge…and who simply fell flat?  Read on!

This Week on TV (5/5-5/11)

CSI Miami

(You can view TV Envy’s Post-Strike Television Schedule here.)

MONDAY (5/5)
  • Two and a Half Men (CBS, 9:00):  (The script was written by scribes.) “George Eads (CSI) has a cameo in which a CSI team investigates a death at Charlie’s house.”  I know Charlie wanted to stop Denise’s reality show, but this is quite a sweeps stunt.
  • House (FOX, 9pm):  “House believes that an actor (Jason Lewis) on his favorite soap is seriously ill after observing his symptoms on television, so he decides to intervene.”  If I had known something like that would work, I would have kidnapped Smith Jerrod a long time ago.
  • Samantha Who? (ABC, 9:30pm):  “Sam’s affair with Todd continues while he’s still seeing a clueless Chloe.”  I’m sorry—why doesn’t Sam just kick her out of her apartment again?  She does own the thing, doesn’t she?
  • CSI: Miami (CBS, 10pm):  “Alexx is stunned when her son is the prime suspect in a murder investigation, and any help she offers could prove costly.”  Buh-bye, Khandi!

Tuesday Ratings:  Gordon Ramsay Raises Hell

The normally successful FOX saw a particularly nice turnout for Hell’s Kitchen last night.  The reality show matched a season high with its demos yesterday.
